To boldly go exploring the Stars, My guide on budget spending in Star Citizen

Let's get started,

The initial combo package, because you need the game and the single player game - 60 USD
annnd that's it! really

Aurora MR Star Citizen Squadron 42 Combo

Mustang Alpha Star Citizen Squadron 42 Combo

Even the lowest package is 45 USD but you will need to purchase Squadron 42 in another package with cost another 45 USD, so you will save 30 USD for buying the Combo (perhaps a ship upgrade?)

note: ALL SHIP ARE PURCHASABLE IN-GAME WITH IN GAME CURRENCY

Ok, ok here is the next part of the guide, I WANT MOAR SHIPS!

First note is that if you want to buy stand alone ships make sure is has a description like this

LIFE TIME INSURANCE or LTI for short. This is the only description that you should throw donate your hard earn cash.

Why? having Life Time Insurance means that in the event where you lose your ship, it gets replaced for free but not the other contents you add in game later, in another term you only get back the ship hull only.

And also Life Time Insurance ships are in only on sale during concept stage, aka limited time. This will be the benchmark for me to buy ships. Do note you can carry over your insurance to another ship only by using the Ship Upgrade in the Star Citizen Website, duration of this service is unknown.

And since Star Citizen anniversary is where you get all the goodies, which is right now of this post. this is the BEST TIME to buy.

The first thing to do is to get the Origin 85X as your LTI token which cost 50 USD, and wait for november 26th 2016 and ship upgrade to any ship greater value of 50 USD of your choice.

So now is the time where i'm itching to pledge a stand alone ship, due to many constraints i have decided to only spend a total maximum amount of 200 USD ( that includes the game package )and also this would be actually my first time pledging a crowd funded game.

it's ok to have cold feet here right now, because you could have bought at least 3 upcoming games with 200 USD.

After deducting the base package i'm left with 140 USD, so what ship could i get?

First and foremost i will be playing the game mainly as an Solo Traveling Explorer and a little trade here and pew pew there, so the base Aurora package is the best choice to go.

My next ship has to have a decent cargo haul and firepower without breaking the bank. The Ship that can fill this roles are from the most expansive group to the cheapest group. Note, i will only be picking the BASE HULL for the ship, except for 1 the mustang beta

The multi crew ships, if there is a life time insurance coverage, these ships could make up cheaper operational cost, but who knows, currently in the 100-200 USD range, it's the middle class multi crew ships where small group or organisation would very much utilise.

The Constellation Taurus

The end goal ship that i would love to own and pilot.

Freelancer

The given role for this ship is very much the smaller and cheaper compare to the constellation, the question is by how much given that the base model is 40 USD cheaper. however being said, if the freelancer could customize for long distance flight and scanning, perhaps this would be best bang for buck versatile ship.

Cutlass

Single Pilot ships, Small nimble ships, best bang for buck section.

300i

The fastest single pilot ship with a decent cargo also it's the most pricy in the bracket. for extra 15 USD more than the mustang, this should be the upgrade ship to get from a mustang, the only reason i would choose this over the Avenger Titan would be trading more speed for less cargo.

Avenger Titan

This is the best imho the standard ship to pilot, cheap and jack of all trades. if i had any doubt on other ships, this is the one i will get hands down.

Mustang Beta

This is the special ship that is worth mentioning since it has a bed and cheap. Next best upgrade from the aurora for scouting and long distance exploration, not to mention nimble and fast. I would pick because of the price tag itself.

note: This guide is written in spending real money on ships as part of the pledging to Star Citizen, and by will change according to the changes made in the game. Nothing is final as this is written.
