My Star Citizen Fleet : Combat ships

Greetings citizen.

Time to select my combat ship. One of the most important decision in space sim.

Not because every sci fi movies / TV series / game has it. But it's one of the core gameplay of it. Also it is part of your active money making activity in star citizen.

Now the first and foremost the Aegis Avenger is the best bang for buck in this category but I'm not going for a light hybrid fighter but I'm going for the heaviest hitter in game that is.

Now to kick things off, the common 2 ship that is battling back and forth, dancing around the No1 spot is the Anvil F7C-M Super Hornet and the Aegis Sabre.

One is build for all out brawling the other silent and deadly. Sadly the stealth mechanic needs work and shield armour ratio also keeps changing build after build.

So currently these 2 ship is the best option for a solo pilot as they have been flight ready for quite some time. There have been lots of test and review from a lot of combat players out there as well.

So time for some comparison, the important stats:

Anvil F7C-M Super Hornet (180 USD)
180 m/s
3 x S3 + ball turret 2 x S2 ( modular ) or 1 x S4 hardpoints
2 x S3 missile rack

Aegis Sabre (170 USD)
215 m/s
4 x S3 hardpoints
2 x S4 missile rack

So on paper combat alone the Aegis Sabre is the better fighter almost the same amount of weapon hardpoint but more missiles. The hornet trade it's missile rack for 1 hardpoint size up( not for the base super hornet ). Also note the the Super Hornet is a hybrid Solo and Co pilot ship, the best combat ship of both worlds.

Because in dog fights agile ships will always have the skill advantage of not getting shot, which translate to 0 ship damage. And the Super Hornet is very well armoured, which also means able to soak a lot of damage before going down.

That concludes to. You can't go wrong with these 2 ships. Pick the best that suits to your flying style.

Personally I would pick the Super Hornet for reason being the "hero" ship in SQ 42, have the closest "design" to a classic F-14 Tomcat( Top Gun anyone ? <3 )and also it was the first ship that I flew during alpha 2.4 free fly which leads me getting started in star citizen.

Being said. My definitive combat ship is choice would be the Banu Defender. It's a 2 seat alien combat ship, with 2 beds. And the reason is simple, my primary ship is the Banu Merchantman and I have decided to get anything Banu related.

And combat ships is an interesting topic which I will expand on as they have light , medium and heavy combat ships, also covering the combat support ships as well.

But with spare cash in hand the Super Hornet would be my next.
