A Capture Card Battle Review
Some time ago i invested in a capture card, Elgato Game Capture HD to record games from my Xbox 360, PS2 and PS1 gameplay. Sadly all those projects and replay need to put on hold as i realized my Xbox 360 have DVD Drive error aka spoiled.
But Today i am not talking about that, instead I will be focusing Should you own a capture card and also i just bought a Razer Ripsaw capture card. so this post will cover the most common question, mainly my question when before i got these 2 cards.
Elgato Game Capture HD
if there is any capture card out there to set as a standard i would instantly put the Elgato Game Capture HD is the gold standard into stream/record.
Why?
First of all, it support a wide range of devices and resolutions from SD all the way to FULL HD. This means i can hook up my PS1 all the way to any latest device out there that can out put through HDMI, and Composite. ( old snes, atari, sega i have yet to try as i don't own them or have them to test ).
Next up Razer Ripsaw
The main reason into owning Razer Ripsaw is that i wanted to capture 1080p at a higher fps, namely 60fps and trying out the 0 latency that they claim.
Verdict?
Razer Ripsaw Does deliver what they wrote, but i do not think that the latency is truly ZERO (0 ms), i bet any pro gamer out there notice there is a slight ( and i meant is like having 1-5 ms delay ) which a casual gamer will not be able to tell the difference. However even with a slight delay, there is no great impact in gameplay experience in anyway.
So the question for gamers like me who dont have a huge choice on capture card, sadly Malaysia only carry razer ripsaw locally and getting other brands means importing from other countries which sadly cost more then the Razer Ripsaw. If you were just about to enter the into the whole game capture / stream scene. Razer Ripsaw is a worthy contender but so happen the price is among the cheapest in Malaysia, i say its worth getting it. The bundle program that Razer is offering is quite user friendly as well.
The Ultimate Deal Breaker
Gamers plays on Windows..... PC master race.... Sadly because of this notion, a lot of other os support namely Mac OS and Linux, Razer Ripsaw does not support any other os except windows ( because who does not have it? )
If you do game on other platform or those add non meta combos out there like a nintendo switch user with a macbook pro, Good ol gold standard Elgato products got your back.
There you go, a simple and straightforward review.
