Should you play : Digimon links
Finally its been 1 year ever since the jp version of the game and about 6 month or so for the English Global version.
For those who don't know. Digimon Links is Based on a popular Japanese anime about kids with a connection to the digital realm. Fighting against monsters with monsters. It was an interesting and popular concept before the internet boom.
Now in the form of a mobile game. There is no any substantial story just collect and fight away. The game offer a weekly type events where each feature digimon is up for grabs, and also a very gatcha heavy game as well.
Each week there will be a "banner" digimon usually Will have bonus on the current event. Each banner last 2 weeks on average. These banner will give the best of the best digimon, usually the hero digimons or sought after digimons.
Sadly the banner digimons heavily relies on random outcome, getting your desire digimon is tough. Both luck and statistic.
However the F2P portion aka the rest of the game is mostly a time sinker. Put enough time you will eventually get them.
If you are not a compeptitior most digimon is obtainable within a little effort. However is the min max / my favourite digimon kills the casual side of this game.
To simply put it. Each the standard evolution of a digimon is rookie > champion > ultimate > mega.
And you can "awaken" aka star up / powerup / upgrade up to 4 times. In the mobile mmo term another time and resource sink.
On top of that if you decided to be competitive the stat of a digimon can be enhance along with certain unobtainable skills only can be obtain via gatcha and event
Clearly this is the best recipe for another cash game.
However, as a typical cash game, digimon links surprisingly have improve a little by offering an alternate way of obtaining top tier digimons. Which is surprisingly F2P friendly with little strategy. You still won't get the best of the best without putting effort and luckily only a handful is not lock by a paywall.
Should you play?
If you are a casual mobile player don't bother as it consume a lot of time during events which is every week.
As a fan of the franchise there are better alternative and it comes with story as well.
Not to mention this game is a core gatcha game, you will get burned out and frustrated when trying to be a competitor player
I picked up this game due to the nostalgic factor and also figuring out the best strategy with minimal effort to play an event. All in the F2P environment.
