Star citizen Esperia Prowler Flight Ready Review
Greetings Citizen,
Starting with the release of 3.9 feature ship, The Esperia Prowler, Should you buy it ? Here is the review and personal opinion on it.
First a disclaimer : concept sales are mainly to help with the development of star citizen and is not required to buy.
An exotic spaceship arrive, and the first from a Tevarin design, it's also a very similar design from a very old movie from the Final Fantasy Spirit Within the copperhead. Now before i get in to the details, PRICE. This ship cost 395 USD warbond and 440 USD warbond.
A huge price to pay, now what ship is close to the prowler? we have the Aegis Vanguard Hoplite 235 USD and the Anvil Valkyrie 375 USD. So what gives the huge price difference?
First it would be the "Alien tax" as the current trend for CIG to sell ships any non human lore ships which has a extra price bump compare to its similar human role. to make things worse it doesn't even include a BED. which is very sad to say the least.
With the price tag aside is this still a good ship? aside from the unbuild "stealth" gameplay. I have to compare its raw stats with the current pool of ships.
so starting with the weapon armaments.
The ship comes with a pilot control of 2 S5 hardpoint and 2 S3 hardpoint (Remote Turret). That certainly pack a punch, it out DPS a single S4 and 4 S2 Aegis Hoplite and comes in close to the Anvil Valkyrie if it can point all its guns forward. So in DPS wise the Prowler is actually very good. So that's a plus point for the Prowler.
Next is defense, with 2 S2 shield generator. Nothing outstanding as the cheaper Freelancer series has the same hardpoint for shields. But it makeup by having a it more agile than the freelancer.
And that's about it. Currently its the best dropship to own but then again it's only a dropship, at the current patch it can only be a medium fighter although the Freelancer MISC does it better and cheaper and has cargo and also having the most important utility, A BED.
At this point, I do not recommend to buy the ship outright if you are still on the fence on getting it. But however, if you for see that you will own one regardless, pick up a Warbond CCU. From the valkyrie to prowler, which is the best choice for now. I Might pick one up just because it could be a "rare" ship and a cool factor. It's certainly a form over function ship and for budget players, this is one ship you don't need it, the Anvil Valkyrie has more role and its cheaper other then being a dropship.
