Should you buy Ships? Hercules Starlifter
Greetings citizen,
Star citizen has yet again offer us a new concept ship! in true fashion i will breakdown if the ship is worth spending money on.
However the way i present future concept sale will change starting with this sale as many things have changed since the release of the previous concept sale along with the major 3.1 update.
i will keep it much more simple this time. Before i start,
STAR CITIZEN IS STILL ON DEVELOPMENT, SHIPS AND PACKAGE BOUGHT IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE AND EXTRA PURCHASES ARE NOT MANDATORY. BUY WISELY.
TO AVOID DISAPPOINTMENT TREAT EACH PURCHASE AS A PRODUCT
Now let's get going.
Introducing the brand new cargo and weapon carrier, Hercules Starlifter ( in which have similar role as the actual C-130 Hercules )
Offering 3 variants : Hercules Starlifter C2 , Hercules Starlifter M2 and Hercules Starlifter A2.
Now here comes a slight problem. for the M2 and A2, the Warbond version comes not only LTI but extra ground vehicle. Namely the cyclone and the Nova Tank respectively. Not only it is cheaper but with extra TOYS TO PLAY.
Thats proves a problem for OLD backer like me, but more importantly the future shift of concept sales. i wont get into detail on why and how because it's a long story.
I however will be focusing WHY should you get it.
start off with Hercules Starlifter C2 : it's basically just a cargo carrier with the ability to carry 2? Nova Tank. With the PRICE OF USD 360 and USD 300 WARBOND.
This is a clear case that do you really utilised that Tank carrier capability. alternative for the said price tag are : STARFARER/GEMINI( USD 300/340 ) with the capability to carry and make fuel, pure cargo HULL D ( 350 ), the sweet obscure BANU MERCHANTMAN ( 350 ) or the DRAKE CATERPILLAR.
p.s. The Hercules Starlifter C2 has no bed, to me is a deal breaker.
The Hercules Starlifter comes with 2 beds.
moving on with the Hercules Starlifter M2 : adding one extra Front facing turret and less space for only USD 480 and USD 400 WARBOND with a FREE Cyclone (USD 55)!
The M2 is in a odd place because it's neither a carrier nor a gunship. so it's extra turrets worth giving up some cargo space and putting out a bit more cash?
And lastly the mighty Hercules Starlifter A2 : with a whopping 5 turrets and extra guns on the side this is a proper Gunship to own during planetary raids the closest thing you get to a C 130, did i mention it can do a carpet bombing run? with a hefty price tag of USD 700 and a USD 600 WARBOND Plus FREE Nova tank ( USD 105 ).
arguably the sole purpose to promote and temp ship buyers like me. So what are the alternative? only 2 competitor : the Aegis HAMMERHEAD and the RSI POLARIS. One is pure dakka dakka pew pew action, another ready to kill you from afar with TORPEDOES, with a dedicated hangar for extra pesky fighter.
The decision is quite clear on this one, Hercules Starlifter A2 is a planetary raid ship, sole purpose is to wrack anything "ground". Not good for general gameplay.
because of the new concept sale, using store credits is kinda useless now as none of the package is "good value" on top of that the loss of LTI.
But if you are still keen on dropping some cash, here is the fun part.
For the POLARIS future owner, but do not own the cheaper (USD 600)warbond version, Pickup the (USD 600 )WARBOND Hercules Starlifter A2 and (USD 50)CCU to Polaris, this makes you a proud owner of a LTI polaris with a Nova Tank with a total of USD 650, thats "USD 205 saved".
For the HULL E and HAMMERHEAD, Getting the (USD 400)WARBOND Hercules Starlifter M2 and "save USD 135" when you CCU to either and have a FREE cyclone.
and lastly future 600I, CARRACK,GENESIS,RECLAIMER, and PROWLER owner. you can pickup the (USD 300)WARBOND Hercules Starlifter M2 and "save USD 60"
As for me Personally the Hercules Starlifter M2 and A2 is worth getting as a CCU token to more expansive ship( free vehicle is good ), but i don't have that kind of disposable income.
